How to use Eclipse JDT compiler outside of Rational Application Developer

Question & Answer

Question

Rational® Application Developer (RAD) is based upon the Eclipse Open Source project. As such, it makes use of the embedded Java™ compiler that is part of the Java Development Tools (JDT) project which is included with Eclipse. You may find that you require the use of the Java compiler outside the RAD user interface (for example, from inside an Ant script).
