How to use the command line options for the Image Comparator in TestManager

Question & Answer

Question

How can you use the command line options for the Image Comparator in IBM® Rational® TestManager (TM)?

Answer

The executable for the Image Comparator, rtcmpi.exe cannot be used directly to open files.

Double clicking on the executable for the image Comparator, which by default is located at "C:\Program Files\Rational\Rational Test\rtcmpi.exe", you get the following error message:

No Image file(s)supplied on the command line. Contact Rational Tech Support for assistance. Command line provided: <none> Image Comparator will now terminate

To use the Image Comparator you must either use it from within the Software's GUI, from the logs or from the command line. The command line can be used to open the baseline or the actual file by using the /baseline <baseline file> and or the /actual <actual file> switches.

For example:

    C:\Program Files\Rational\Rational Test\rtcmpi.exe /baseline C:\test\Project5\TestDatastore\TMS_Builds\Build 1.Build\
    Default.LogFolder\RR02.Log\vp\RR02.Window Image.exp.img
