This document explains how to update firmware using the iLO 4 web interface.
To update the firmware and store files/repositories in iLO 4, you must have the "Configure iLO Settings" privilege.
Steps
ILO4 supports the following component firmware upgrades from ILO Web Interface where applicable:
- ILO firmware.
- BIOS (System ROM)
- System Programmable Logic Device (CPLD)
- Power Management Controller
- NVMe backplane
- Edgeline chassis controller
- SL and XL chassis
1. Obtain the firmware file for the iLO 4 or server you want to update.
2. Select to the Administration ->Firmware page.
3. Select Browse or Choose File, and then specify the location of the firmware image file.
- To install the firmware using the binary file, you need to extract it. Run the .exe file and select Extract.

- Once the .bin file is extracted, you can select it to run the update.
4. Select start the update process, click Upload.
- To update some server firmware, a server reboot will be required before the update can take place.
- Once firmware has been updated, the iLO 4 will restart and leave the connection offline for several minutes until it starts again, that is when you have to connect to the iLO 4 again and verify that the update has been completed successfully.
