Troubleshooting
Problem

Resolving The Problem
The QSERVER subsystem automatically starts the file host server with the default QSERVER autostart job, and additional jobs can be started with customized autostart job entries added to the subsystem.
Note the database host server job is QZDASRVSD and will start automatically when TCP/IP is started by default. This job can also be started using the startup program by adding the STRHOSTSVR *DATABASE command to the startup program.
To get the QZDASRVSD (database host server) job to start with the startup of the QSERVER subsystem, an autostart job entry is set up as follows:
CRTJOBD JOBD(QSYS/QSTRZDAD) USER(QPGMR) RTGDTA(QCMD) RQSDTA('QSYS/STRHOSTSVR SERVER(*DATABASE)')
ADDRTGE SBSD(QSERVER) SEQNBR(900) CMPVAL(*ANY) PGM(QSYS/QCMD)
ADDAJE SBSD(QSYS/QSERVER) JOB(QZDASRVSD) JOBD(QSYS/QSTRZDAD)
We advise making a copy of this modified subsystem description in a non-system library, such as QGPL. Whenever the operating system is upgraded, the subsystem description in the QSYS library will be overwritten and your changes will be lost. Because IBM may introduce new functions or features in a new version, there may be changes to the IBM-supplied subsystem description in a new version of i5/OS. Therefore, you should review the new subsystem description and compare it to your modified version before simply replacing the new one. If IBM introduces changes, you must modify the new version with the changes and save a copy of the new, modified subsystem description.
