Abstract
The objective of this document is to show the steps and the screen captures to specify a userid and a password in MQ Explorer 8 and 9.x when defining a connection to a remote queue manager.
Content
The default setting is for the MQ Explorer to prompt the user to enter a password.
If you want to change the behavior and store the password, then see the steps and screen captures in the section:
Scenario C) MQ Explorer - when connecting to remote queue managers

MQ 8.0: errors AMQ5540, AMQ5541 and AMQ5542, application did not supply a user ID and password, 2035 MQRC_NOT_AUTHORIZED
The default compatibility mode for providing the userid and password has a limitation of using up to 12 characters for the password. Passwords that are longer than 12 characters CANNOT be passed when using the default compatibility mode.
If you want to provide passwords that are longer than 12 characters, then you need to disable the compatibility mode. This means that you will use the MQCSP Authentication mode.

Chapter 1: Setup of a connection for a remote queue manager
Chapter 2: Specifying userid and password using the default compatibility mode
("User identification compatibility mode" - checkbox enabled by default)
Chapter 3: Specifying userid and password using MQCSP Authentication mode
(NOT using "User identification compatibility mode" - need to disable the checkbox)
In short, if you want to use MQCSP, then do NOT enable the checkbox "User identification compatibility mode" !
