How to resolve “Annotations failed to load, Annotation data not in the required format” error?

Problem

When an annotation with “Proprietary” class is saved using custom application leveraging IDMObjects API, it gets saved successfully to the document object. However, while opening such document in IDM Open Client Daeja Viewer, “Annotations failed to load, Annotation data not in the required format” error is encountered. Following this error, IDM Open Client session gets ended and login screen is prompted due to IIS restart.
