Summary
When you receive the new POWER server and start planning your environment, you will find a single Service Partition that can be removed, but it may show this error “HSCL3396 Failed to delete the partition with ID 1 since it is the service partition."
Steps
The Service Partition can be named as the serial number of your new server
To remove that Service Partition, complete the following steps:
Select Resources > All Systems
Select System > Actions > View System Properties
Under Properties, select General Settings
Service Partition > Unassigned
If your system was preinstalled with an operating system, you must exit MDC (manufacturing default configuration) mode so that you can open a console and access your operating system. To exit MDC mode, complete the following steps:
Select Power On Parameters and set the Partition Start Policy to User-Initiated.
After unassigning the Service Partition and changing the Partition Start Policy to User-Initiated, click on Save, then you can remove that Service Partition, then power on the server.
