Question & Answer
Question
How do you open Analyst's Notebook charts from within Microsoft Sharepoint?
Cause
Saving IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook charts enables the user to share information using existing company resources and infrastructure. If an organization already has Microsoft Sharepoint in place, or needs to move to a Microsoft Sharepoint system, Analyst's Notebook users can utilize this storage facility to collect and share charts that are created.
Answer
In order to use Microsoft Sharepoint as a repository for Analyst's Notebook charts, users must have Analyst's Notebook installed on their local machine to allow them to open charts from Microsoft Sharepoint. Charts can NOT be saved directly to Sharepoint from Analyst's Notebook. Steps must be taken outside of IBM i2 software in order to put the charts within Sharepoint.
If the user who attempts to open an Analyst's Notebook chart does not have Analyst's Notebook installed, an error message will be received indicating this fact. To enable this functionality of opening charts from within Sharepoint, the following must be accomplished:
- IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook must be installed on the local system of the user attempting to open the chart from Sharepoint.
- The charts must be saved to Sharepoint outside of Analyst's Notebook in order to be added to the Sharepoint repository.
- Users must have access to the area within Sharepoint to access the chart files.
