Question & Answer
Question
Answer
- Work installation
- Home installation
- Change in hardware that changes the lock code
- Employee has left the company and code needs to be moved to new employee
- Created in error or with wrong expiration date
For example, if the customer is on version current version - 2 it is possible that they upgraded hardware more than one time or employee turnover consumed the allowed activations.
However, if they are on the most recent version of the software it would seem unlikely but not impossible that they would use all of their activations for that version and need to return them.
Every concurrent authorization code comes with 1 allowed activation. If the Sentinel License Manager is moved to new hardware, the license string needs to be returned so the authorization code activation is reset. Then, the authorization code can be used again on the new hardware.
Authorization codes are version-specific so upgrading to a new version does not require the returning of a code.
For more information on returning authorization codes see, this technote.
