Problem
RUP® includes two different sets of Microsoft Word templates, "Microsoft® Word® Templates for Classic RUP" and "Microsoft® Word® Templates - Informal". The latter is suited to smaller or more informal projects. A template can be viewed in RUP by selecting the Template link from the related artifact's main description page. However, to work with the templates in Microsoft Word, the pre-built Microsoft Word templates (.dot) should be unzipped into the Microsoft Word User Templates folder.
Resolving The Problem
In RUP, open the desired set of templates by selecting Overview > Templates. On this page select the "To install and customize Word templates ...." link and follow the steps.
