Description:
A 400MB cube on PowerPlay Enterprise Server Administration takes ten minutes to open the first time but afterwards opens very quickly.
How can you improve the performance to open a cube faster?
Solution:
In Transformer, click PowerCubes properties, Processing tab and clear the "Store this PowerCube compressed" checkbox.
The online help indicates that this feature decreases the transfer times for cube files (mdc) and that cube files remain uncompressed once opened for the first time.
Two possible ways to improve performance -
1. Remove the property to compress the cube, which means improved performance to open cube files the first time but that file transfer takes longer.
2. Leave the property selected and after moving the cube to the target location, open it to decompress the file prior to making it available through PowerPlay Enterprise Server Administration.
This may also be automate using a script.
