How to get help with account questions as a Coursera learner using IBM Cloud

Question & Answer

Question

How do you get help with account questions as a Coursera learner using IBM Cloud services?

Answer

Coursera, which is a third-party educational provider, leverages IBM Cloud services with some of their offerings. This document provides answers to common account, billing, and support questions from Coursera learners.

How do you obtain access to IBM Cloud as a Coursera learner?
To access IBM Cloud services, Coursera provides you with a feature code to apply to the IBM Cloud account.  Coursera provides you with the IBM Cloud feature code; IBM Cloud Support cannot issue or replace this feature code

How do you register for IBM Cloud and apply the feature code?
Take note of any specific instructions provided in your course materials.  After you start the IBM Cloud registration process, you add your feature code when you register for a new IBM Cloud account by clicking Register with a code.
When you reach the Verify identity stage of the registration process, click Register with a code in the Account information section, as shown in the following screen capture:
Register with a code
Enter your feature code where indicated, as shown in the following example screen:
Apply code
Complete the remaining steps of the registration process.  The result of applying the code is a Trial account.
To view your account type and its expiration date, go to Manage > Account, and select Account settings.
The Account Settings page shows the name of the account, the account ID, the account type, and the number of days that remain in your trial, as shown in the following example:

The Settings page also has a section to shows what feature codes are applied to the account, as in this example:

Coursera provided me with an IBM Cloud feature code. However, it is not working. How do I get help?
Contact Coursera Support for assistance with a feature code that they provided to you. IBM Cloud Support cannot provide or replace the feature code.
My feature code does not work because I already applied a credit card to the account. What are my options?

When you add a credit card to your trial account, your account is upgraded to a Pay-As-You-Go account. Educational feature codes can't be used in a Pay-As-You-Go account.

Even though you provide your credit card information for account security and identity verification purposes, you can still use IBM Cloud at no cost by selecting products in the catalog that offer Free and Lite pricing plans.  You pay only for billable services that you use, with your credit card charged for the usage as specified in Section 4.3: Billing in the IBM Cloud Service Agreement.
Can I convert my Pay-As-You-Go account to a trial account?
If you upgrade your trial account to a Pay-As-You-Go account by entering a credit card, it can't be converted back to a trial account.
How do I get help if I have a problem when using IBM Cloud resources as part of a Coursera course?
Start by checking your course materials or by visiting the Coursera Learner Help Center to find troubleshooting and FAQs or contact the Coursera Learner Support team.

An IBM Cloud Trial account with a free support plan is limited to non-technical support related to account access and billing. Users with Trial accounts can view the IBM Cloud Docs and can visit the Support Center to use the Cloud Assistant, review FAQs, or review community forums such as Stack Overflow.  For more information about our IBM Cloud account options, see:
What happens to my IBM Cloud account at the end of the course?

At the end of the course, your trial account and feature code expire.  At the end of the trial period, you are invited to upgrade your account to a Pay-As-You-Go account.  If you do not upgrade your account or apply another feature code, then the account is deactivated and its resources deleted.
