How to export requirements and attributes from the Attribute Matrix to a Word document

Problem

This technote identifies how you can customize the Attribute Matrix query to only display the specific information from IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® in preparation for an export to a Microsoft® Word document.

Resolving The Problem

To export an Attribute Matrix with only particular requirements and/or attributes, a query on an Attribute Matrix view to limit what is displayed, is required.

  1. To limit the requirements that are displayed in the Attribute Matrix, perform the following instructions:
    1. Open an Attribute Matrix for the desired requirement type.
    2. Go to View > Query Row Requirements, or click on the funnel icon.
    3. Select the Attribute(s) to filter/sort on to get the desired requirements to display (you may add more than one set of criteria to the query).
    4. After adding the query criteria, run the query by clicking OK.
  2. To limit the attributes that display in the Attribute Matrix, perform the following instructions:
    1. Go to View > Displayed Attributes, or click on the funnel icon.
    2. Select the Attribute(s) desired to display and the display order of those Attributes.
    3. Click OK to apply.
  3. After querying the Attribute Matrix to your specifications, export the Attribute Matrix to a Word document.
  4. The resulting Word document will have the requirements and/or attributes that were filtered placed in a Word table.
