How does the SPSS K-means clustering procedure handle missing data with the pairwise option?

Question & Answer

Question

I'm running a K-Means cluster analysis with SPSS and have chosen the pairwise option, as I have missing data. I'm concerned about the fact that different cases have different numbers of missing values and how this will affect relative distance measures computed by the procedure. Is this a problem?
