Question & Answer
Question
When exporting SMTP email from eDiscovery Manager (eDM), what format are the exported files and how are they packaged?
Cause
Confusion for SMTP emails that originate from Exchange journals whether those can be packaged the same way as the Exchange emails into PST file.
Answer
- If native format is selected in eDiscovery manager, SMTP emails are exported as .eml files. At the current versions, these exported files are not packaged in a zip file.
- Even if the SMTP emails originate from Exchange server, the exported files are not packaged into PST file.
- Similarly, if the SMTP emails originate from Lotus Domino server, the exported files are not packaged into NSF database.
