Question & Answer

Question

How do you migrate or copy models from one Machine Learning service instance to another?

Answer

Answer

The information in this document will explain how to migrate models from one Watson Machine Learning service instance in Account A to another Watson Machine Learning service instance in Account B. These steps will use the catalog from the Watson Knowledge Catalog service to serve as intermediate storage.

Note: It is assumed that you have full access to both Account A and B.

Complete the following steps:

  1. Open the Watson Studio service in Account A.

  2. Create a Watson Knowledge Catalog instance called "COSABCatalog" and create an Object Service service instance called "COSAB" in Account A.

  3. Create "ProjectA" in the Watson Studio service and use a new "COSAB" Object Storage service.

  4. Add the Watson Machine Learning service to "projectA" in Account A.

  5. Create "ProjectB" in the Watson Studio service and use the new "COSAB" Object Storage service.

  6. Switch to Watson Studio in Account B and add the Watson Machine Learning service to it.

  7. Open "ProjectA." Under models in the Assets tab, you will see your models from service A in "ProjectA." You can use the three dots next to the models and publish each model to the "COSABCatalog" catalog, for example.

  8. Open the catalog, select the model asset, click Add to Project, and select "ProjectB." It might ask you to select Watson Machine Learning service if you have multiple service instances in "ProjectB."

  9. Go to "ProjectB" and select Assets > Models to verify that you see the copied models.
