Question & Answer
Question
Is there a command for displaying the encryption level of a TN3270 connection?
Answer
The CONNECTION Summary display command provides this information. The output from a D TCPIP,tnproc,T,CONN command displays an EZZ6064I message that shows the encryption type of each TN3270 connection. The encryption type is shown in the ENCR TYPE column.
| D TCPIP,TELNET,CONN (C) EZZ6064I TELNET CONN DISPLAY (L) ENCR TSP (L) CONN TYPE IPADDR..PORT LUNAME APPLID PTR LOGMODE -------- ---- ---------------------- -------- -------- --- -------- 0000001C 4S 9.27.11.197..4155 TCPM1002 APPL2 TAE SNX32702 0000001A 4S 9.27.11.197..4154 TCPM1001 APPL2 TAE SNX32702 ----- PORT: 23 ACTIVE PROF: CURR CONNS: 2 ------------------------------------------------------------ 4 OF 4 RECORDS DISPLAYED |
| In the above example, Telnet connections 0000001C and 0000001A both have an encryption type of 4S, which signifies the cipher specification SSL_RC4_SHA. All the encryption types displayed by this command and the cipher specifications that they signify are found in the description of the ENCRYPTION statement in the IP Configuration Reference. |
