How do I determine the size of a load source disk on IBM i?

Perform the steps below from the IBM i command line.
Answer
From the IBM i command line, you should perform the following steps:

1. |
Issue the STRSST command and press Enter. |
| 2. | Sign into SST using a valid UserID and password, and press Enter. |
| 3. | On the System Service Tools (SST) menu, type Option 1 = Start a Service tool. |
| 4. | On the Start a Service Tool menu, type Option 7 = Hardware Service Manager. |
| 5. | On the Hardware Service Manager menu, type Option 2 = Logical Hardware Resources. |
| 6. | On the Logical Hardware Resource menu, type Option 1 = System Bus Resources. |
| 7. | On the Logical Hardware Resources on System Bus menu, Page down until you find an asterisk or "*" listed, type 9 under the Opt column for Resources associated with IOP on the line item:![]() |
| 8. | On the Logical Hardware Resources associated with IOP menu, record the resource name of the disk unit with an asterisk. In the example below, the resource name is DMP001:![]() |
| 9. | Press the F3 key two times to return to the main System Service Tools (SST) menu. |
| 10. | On the System Service Tools (SST) menu, type Option 3 = Work with disk units. |
| 11. | On the Work with disk units menu, type Option 1 = Display disk configuration. |
| 12. | On the Display Disk Configuration menu, type Option 1 = Display disk configuration status. |
| 13. | Match the resource name from Step 8 to the resource name listed:![]() |
| 14. | Press F11 for Disk configuration capacity. In the example below, the size of the load source disk unit is just over 282 GB with almost 33% actively in use:![]() |
| 15. | Press F3 three times and press Enter to return to the IBM i command line. |
