Answer
Document Composition Facility (DCF) contains no function for tracking its own usage.
You might have tools you can use to track hits to load modules. The primary load modules used depend on which features of DCF you use. You might be able to track DCF usage by tracking these load modules.
- DSMTSS40 is the primary load module for the SCRIPT command in Time Sharing Option (TSO).
- DSMDBS40 is the primary load module for the SCRIPTDB command in TSO.
- DSMLOS30 is the primary load module for SCRIPT under Document Library Facility (DLF).
- DSMATS40 is the primary load module for SCRIPT in the Customer Information Control System (CICS®) environment.
- DSMATS30 was the primary load module for old levels of CICS.
- DSMBOF40 is for the FLIP (Font Library Index Program).
- DSMMVS40 is for applications like Application Support Facility (ASF) to invoke DCF.
If your documents use Starter Set Generalized Markup Language (GML) tags, then they will be using the 'SCRIPT.R40.MACLIB'. That is the default name. Your site might have renamed the GML macro library. Any formatting of documents for Advanced Function Presentation (AFP™) printers will use the font libraries.
DCF output documents in Multiple Virtual Storage (MVS) data sets often use low level qualifiers of LIST3820 or LISTAFP, but DCF does not enforce the naming convention.
DCF output documents start with a no operation (NOP) banner line similar to this example:
!..LÓÓ...SCRIPT/VS 4.0.0: DEVICE 3820A CHARS X0T00395
You are using DCF if you have any files with a line like that in them.
DCF input documents are text files that an application program can produce. Other applications might use DCF to produce fully-composed Mixed Object Document Content Architecture-Presentation (MO:DCA-P) AFP output.
The TSO foreground SCRIPT commands, the Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) dialog for Script, and batch jobs for DLF or TSO can all invoke DCF.
