Question

How do you delete and recreate Flexlm license manager service from License tools/LMTOOLS utility on Microsoft Windows?

Cause

When the existing license server service fails to start, due to port issues

Answer

To delete and recreate Flexlm license manager service:

  1. Navigate to LM Tools > Config services

  2. Click Remove service
    Ensure the service name is Telelogic License Manager

  3. Type the name of the new service from Service Name text area

  4. Browse to the lmgrd.exe

  5. Browse to the correct license file

  6. Browse to license.log file

  7. Confirm that the following check boxes are checked:
    • Use services
    • Start Server at power up

  8. Go to "Start/Stop/Reread" tab and start the server

  9. Re-read the license file

  10. Check the status from the Server Status tab
