How to create a multiple response set in SPSS

Answer

1) Open SAV file in SPSS.
2) Go to Analyze | Tables |Multiple Response Sets
3) Select the variables you wish to include from the Set Definition list, adding them in the correct order for the multi repsonse set. Click the arrow to add the variables to the Variables in Set pane
4) Chose Variables are coded as Dichotomies with Counted Value 1 (those who said Yes)
5) Enter a name and label for the new variable and then click Add. You will see the new set added to the Mult. Response Sets box, with its name preceded by a $ e.g. if the name entered is test it will appear as $test
6) Click OK to create new set.
7) File | Exit and say Yes to Save contents of data editor prompt to save the set permanently
