Troubleshooting
Problem
How can I print large charts in IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook using my wide format printer?
Cause
A0 is the largest standard paper size. Anything larger and you will need to create a custom paper size to suit your requirements.
Environment
A wide format printer is needed.
Diagnosing The Problem
The page size in the Page Setup dialog in IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook does not cover the whole of the chart area.
Resolving The Problem
In some cases there is a need to print large charts which are wider and longer than the largest of the standard paper sizes, A0. In order to bypass this limitation a wide format printer or larger is needed.
In order to add a larger paper size you need to access your printer properties. This can be done by doing the following:
Windows 7
- Go to the Start Menu
- Select Devices and Printers
- Right click on the wide format printer and select "Printing Preferences"
- Look for the Paper Size option.
There should be either an option or a drop down option to manually create a new paper size. Please check your printer's manual if you need further help with this. It is also recommended to check the maximum acceptable width for your printer by looking at the printers documentation.
One you have created a new paper size within the limits of your wide format printer you can go back to the Page Setup dialog in Analyst's Notebook.
You will need to check these to see if the size that you have created is acceptable for the chart you are trying to print. If it is not you will need to go back to the printer preferences to alter this.
Once the chart that you are trying to print fits the new custom paper size, and it is within the limits of your wide format printer then you should be able to print the chart successfully.
