How to Completely Remove Facsimile Support/400 (FAX/400) from the System

Troubleshooting

Problem

This document includes steps to completely remove Facsimile Support for iSeries from the system.

Resolving The Problem

To delete the Facsimile Support for iSeries product (5798FAX) entirely from the system, use the following process:

1.

Sign on to the system QSECOFR.
2.End Facsimile Support using the following command:

ENDFAXSPT FAXD(*ALL) ENHSRV(*YES)

Allow the QFAXSBS and QFQSBS subsystems to end.
3.Delete the fax description(s):

DLTFAXD FAXD(FAXDxx)

where FAXDxx is the name of the fax controller. Repeat for each fax description.
4.Delete the licensed program 5798FAX using the following command:

DLTLICPGM LICPGM(5798FAX) OPTION(*ALL)

When the Facsimile Support for iSeries product is deleted, the following occurs:

o The QFAX product library and its contents are deleted.
o The Facsimile Support for iSeries commands are deleted from the QSYS library.
5.Facsimile Support for iSeries also uses objects that do not reside in the QFAX library and are not deleted when the product is deleted. Output queues, data queues, data areas, database and logical files, mode descriptions, a device description, message queue, and user profile are not deleted when the product is deleted. To remove all objects, use the following commands:

Note: Remove or move all spooled files from the QFFSNDFAX, QFFSNDSAV, QFFSNDERR output queues before issuing the following commands:

DLTOUTQ OUTQ(QUSRSYS/QFF*)

DLTDTAQ DTAQ(QGPL/QFF*)

DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRSYS/QFF*)

DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QGPL/QFF*)

DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QGPL/QFQ*)

DLTDTAARA DTAARA(QUSRSYS/QFQ*)

DLTF FILE(QUSRSYS/QAFQ*)

DLTMODD MODD(QFAX*)

DLTDEVD DEVD(QFQ*)

DLTMSGQ MSGQ(QUSRSYS/QFAXOPR)

DLTUSRPRF USRPRF(QFAXMSF) OWNOBJOPT(*DLT)

There may be data queues in QUSRSYS that have the same name as the configured fax controller(s) with an appended 'p'. For example, FAXD01P. To delete these objects, do the following:

o Issue the WRKOBJ OBJ(QUSRSYS/FaxControllerName) OBJTYPE(*DTAQ) command.
o Take Option 4 to Delete next to the data queue.
o If there are many data queues and the fax controllers have a naming convention, for example, FAXDxx, use the following command:DLTDTAQ DTAQ(QUSRSYS/FAXD*)
