Summary

Lifecycle Controller Log (12th generation and above – starting DRAC7)

Objective

Starting from generation 12, the information and events about the iDRAC are contained in the “Lifecycle Log”.
In the Lifecycle Log it is possible to find and save:
 
  • All Logs
  • System Health
  • Storage
  • Updates
  • Audit
  • Configuration
  • Work notes
 

Steps

1 Logging on to the iDRAC
 
  • Login to the iDRAC management network port using a web browser (https://1.1.2.3).
  • Enter the Userid and Password (default is root / calvin).
 
2 Capturing the Lifecycle Controller log
 
iDRAC 7 and 8
 
  • Click “Server” on the left and navigate to “Logs”. Next go to the “Lifecycle Log” tab.
 
 
 
  • Under “Severity” and / or “Log type” select the log you wish to run and click “apply”. If nothing is selected, all logs will be displayed.
 
 
  • Click “export” to start collecting the log.
 
 
  • In the next screen, select “Local”, and click “Export“. In the pop up click “Save File” and “OK”.
  • Save the log into the desired path.
 
 iDRAC 9
 
  • Navigate to the “Maintenance” tab and select “Lifecycle Log”
 
 
  • Click the “Export” button at the top right. In the pop up window change the location type to Local, then click “Export”.
 
 
  • Type the filename (or keep the default) and click “Save”. The log file will be saved into the path indicated.
 
 
  • Log is saved in the xml.gz format.
