Summary
How do you change the bit version (32 bit or 64 bit) of the existing IBM Installation Manager installation?
Objective
You want to change existing IBM Installation Manager installation from 32-bit installation to 64-bit installation or vice-versa.
Currently, IBM Installation Manager 32-bit version is installed and you would like to take advantage of IBM Installation Manager 64-bit version without losing the information associated with the existing product installs.
Steps
1. Download the intended IBM Installation Manager installer package from IBM Passport Advantage or jazz.net.
2. Close all existing sessions of the IBM Installation Manager on the machine.
3. Open a command line or terminal window and navigate to the directory containing the install.exe or install binary depending on Windows or Unix machine.
For example:
D:\Installation_Manager\Win32\V1.9.1.6\agent.installer.win32.win32.x86_64_1.9.1006.20210614_1906
4. Run the following command on Windows and Unix machines.
install.exe -reinstallIM
./install -reinstallIM
The above command re-install's the IBM Installation Manager into the bit version intended retaining the list of existing product installs.
