Problem

Currently, it is required to change the password separately on both controller modules in order to change the Command Line Interface (CLI) password for the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID Module.

Symptom

Currently, it is required to change the password separately on both controller modules in order to change the Command Line Interface (CLI) password for the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID Module.

Affected configurations

The system may be any of the following IBM servers:

  • BladeCenter S, type 8886, any model

The system is configured with one or more of the following IBM Options:

  • IBM BladeCenter S SAS RAID Controller Module, Option part number 43W3584

This tip is not software specific.

Workaround

When changing the CLI password you will need to perform the process on both controllers. Use the following command within the SAS RAID Module CLI interface.

 

Usage: -chpasswd -oldpasswd -newpasswd

Where: the first parameter is either one of the following:

-CLI : change the password for the CLI user
-mgmtInterface : change the password for the management interface

:old password for the user
:new password for the user - it should be minimum of 6, maximum of 20 characters. Use a combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers for the password.
