Summary
The iLO Event Log (IEL) contains the Machine's System error logs.
Objective
The goal of this topic is to show several ways to collect the IEL log (via iLO web interface) on Proliant Servers and Blades (P & C class) Gen 2 -7 (ILO, ILO2, ILO3) and on Servers and Blades (C class) Gen 8 and up (ILO4 and ILO5).
Steps
Capturing the IEL via the ILO
Note: It’s impossible to save the IEL Log on machines with ILO & ILO 2 installed. You’ll need to capture screen shots. On machines equipped with ILO 3 and up, you can save the IEL to file.
1. Logon to the ILO
Logon to the ILO management network port via a web browser (eg https://1.1.2.3). The Userid and Password are needed. If they aren't available, you can bypass the logon screen using the ILO security override switch, which is present on all Servers and Blades (see maintenance guide for more details). Machines can have a dedicated or shared management network port.
Select “iLO Event Log” in the “System Status” tab and capture screen shots.
1.2. ILO 3
Select “iLO Event Log” in the infomation menu and click the “View CSV” button. Copy the CSV output text and paste it into a text editor, saving it as a .csv file.
1.3. ILO 4
Select “iLO Event Log” in the infomation menu and click the “View CSV” button. When the CSV output is displayed, click “Save” to store the Event Log as a .csv file.
1.4. ILO 5
Select "Information", “iLO Event Log” and click the “CSV” button. When the CSV output is displayed, click “Save” to store the Event Log as a .csv file.
