Question
We want to ensure that only authenticated RIPv2 packets are received over RIP interfaces. What steps do we perform to implement RIP Version 2 authentication on z/OS?
Answer
For each IP interface over which RIP operates, specify the following on the RIP_INTERFACE statement:
RipV2=YES (Enables RIP V2 packets to be sent on this link)
Receive_RIP=RIP2 (Accept only RIP version 2 updates over this interface)
Authentication_Key=key , where key is any alphanumeric string from code page 1047 up to 16 characters in length coded within double quotation marks, or any hexadecimal string which begins with 0x.
