Question & Answer
Question
By default, AutoVue stores its avwin.ini in the \Windows directory. This file contains all of the AutoVue configuration settings. Users might require different values for the same configuration settings depending on the nature of the rendition or print job.
Cause
AutoVue by default has only one avwin.ini file to contain its configuration settings.
Answer
AutoVue as rendition or printer application - page orientation settings
When configuring AutoVue as the application for renditions or printing, the default page orientation used is Portrait. There are cases where the orientation needs to be changed per queue. The most effective way to perform this is by using multiple AutoVue initialization files (avwin.ini) files.
This is easily performed. First, create a directory for the DB2® Document Manager Rendition or Print server. The name of this directory can be any valid directory name. This example will use C:\DMRenditionAvINI. You can either create a avwin.ini file from scratch or copy C:\WINNT\avwin.ini file to C:\DMRenditionAvINI.
Suppose you want to modify the page orientation to print landscape rather than portrait (the default is portrait). In your initialization file, you will need to add the following line under the [AvPrintOptions] section:
orientation=2
This will set the page orientation to landscape. Because you can only have one avwin.ini file in your C:\DMRenditionAvINI directory, rename the avwin.ini file to a name that identifies your needs. In this example, this copy is named avwinL.ini. Now this file contains the orientation specification.
In DB2 Document Manager Designer, add the following to your Rendition or Print object's Command Line field:
-p %filename% -c C:\DMRenditionAvINI\avwinL.ini
The -c option allows you to specify a configuration or initialization file. If your needs call for additional settings in the initialization or configuration file for AutoVue, consult AutoVue's User and Administrator guides that are delivered with the AutoVue Professional product.
