Question & Answer
Question
When I bring items from the Information Store onto an i2 Analyst's Notebook chart, I am not able to set the Date & Time properties to Controlling so I can plot them on a timeline.

For example, on my chart I have two accounts with 123 transactions. I would like to see the transactions on a timeline for a visual view of the activity. However, the Date & Time properties are not available from the Transaction link even though they appear in the Record inspector field.
When I select all the items to move to a Timeline chart, I get a message:
"Date and time properties are not present on the items beingcopied to the new chart. Without dates and time it is notpossible to arrange them into a timeline. Do you want tocontinue anyway?"

How do I apply the transactions to a timeline?
Answer
In order to be able to perform date & time analysis of the items from the Information Store, you need to have the information for the dates and time shared from the Charting scheme. Here is the link to the documentation explaining the importance of the Charting scheme:
Changing the displayed information
To add the Date and Time values to your Charting Scheme, open your i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) schema file in "IBM i2 Analyze Schema Designer".
- Select File -> Open Schema
- Select your schema xml file from your toolkit configuration files. For example, C:\IBM\i2Analyze\toolkit\configuration\fragments\common\WEB-INF\classes. In my screen capture, I am editing the sample law-enforcement-schema.xml.
- Select File -> Edit Charting Schemes...

- For the Entity or Link that you want to add the time analysis, add the Date and Time properties. In my example, I am adding the Date and Time properties to the "Transaction" link. Right mouse click Properties under Transaction and select "Insert Chart Item Property Type".

- Use the drop-down to select the Date property type.

- In the right side pane, select the item Property containing the Date value to use for time analysis. In my example, the Transaction link contains a property "Date and Time"

- Repeat to add the Time property type and associate it with the item property containing the Time value.

- Click OK to save the Charting Scheme changes, then save the Schema before exiting.
- Redeploy according to the IBM Knowledge Center: Modifying a deployed i2 Analyze schema
setup -t stopLiberty setup -t updateInformationStoreSchema setup -t deployLiberty setup -t startLiberty
Exit i2 Analyst's Notebook (ANB), then start it again and log in to EIA to pick up the Schema and Charting Scheme changes. It is important to exit ANB since the schema and charting information is cached and a restart will force the changes to be refreshed after a new connection.
Do a search to add the items to your chart. You now see the Date and Time values appear in the link properties:

When all the items are added to a timeline, there is no warning message. In the timeline, you see the Transaction link properties have the option to set the Order and Control of Date & Time to "Controlling"
