How To
Summary
Several different jobs or tasks all share the same UP or ACTIVE message and the wrong job is getting marked as AVAILABLE.
How do you associate a message to a specific APL resource in System Automation?
Objective
JKAAPL1A and JKAAPL1B both have the same Active message - FDBRC1999I.
Sometimes the wrong Job gets set to UP when FDBRC1999I is issued.
How do we configure System Automation so the correct jobs receives the FDBRC1999I message?
Steps
It is possible to have SA check for both a Jobname and a message when evaluating UP messages in the Automation tables.
You would set up a Automation Table override for the resources in question in Policy as follows:
First select Messages/User data for one of the APL's in question
Create a message entry for the message in question - FDBRC1999I in this case
Next issue AS command to set a 'AT status'
Select 'UP' and hit PF3
This gives us an AT entry for just the message. We need to add the jobname to this message, so we issue the AC command to update the 'AT condition'
We are going to add Additional condition: JOBNAME='&*JOBNAME.'
***NOTE*** be sure to add this condition in UPPER CASE or it will not resolve correctly ***NOTE***
Now anytime message FDBRC1999I is used with another APL, it will also add the jobname to the AT entry.
Hit enter and you see the AT entry update to this now include the Jobname. See how it resolves to the jobname of the APL
PF3 to see the Message Automation Overview panel. Notice it shows only a entry for JLAAPL1A
We can now back all the way out of JKAAPL1A and go to JKAAPL1B to add the same message for JKAAPL1B.
We select Messages/User Data as we did before so we can set up the message override.
And when we hit enter we see a AT Entry that consists of TWO entries - one for each APL.
You can add the message to as many APL's as you like, and each APL will add an AT entry for that APL's specific jobname.
