Abstract
System tuning usually requires adding/changing a parameters within /nz/data/postgresql.conf - how to make use of the new settings?

Two options:
1) after system will be brought back new settings will be in use:
nzstop
nzstart
2) you can notify system process to reread new settings - after that all newly opened sessions will use the settings:
pkill -HUP postmaster
