This article is created to inform how Apple Watches interface with managed iOS devices
If a MaaS360 Administrator allows/enables the Apple Watch option in their iOS MDM Policy under Supervised Settings > Restrictions & Network > Allow Apple Watch, the same Device Passcode, iMessage, and other restrictions that are applied for the Supervised iOS device (DEP/Apple Configurator 2 with Supervision) are also applied to the Apple Watch itself.
The same behavior is applied if the MaaS360 Administrator does not have Supervised iOS Devices and enables the option, Force Apple Watch Wrist Detection, in their iOS MDM Policy under Device Settings > Restrictions > Force Apple Watch Wrist Detection.
For example, if the MaaS360 Administrator does not allow iMessage in the iOS MDM policy for managed iOS devices, the end-user will not be able to use iMessage on their Apple Watch.
NOTE: Enforcing an alphanumeric passcode requires the user to unlock their phone and not allow the user to type the passcode in on their watch.
