Abstract
APAR HU02310 is a software issue that can cause incorrect data to be copied to a FlashCopy target volume leading to undetected data corruption.
This issue only affects V8.4.0.0 and V8.4.0.1. It is fixed in V8.4.0.2 and later.

This issue can affect systems where:
- The software version is V8.4.0.0 or V8.4.0.1, AND
- A FlashCopy mapping has been created where the target volume has deduplication enabled
In these circumstances, data may have been copied from an incorrect source volume to the target volume, meaning that the target volume is not a valid copy.
Mitigation
If both of the above conditions are met, contact IBM support for assistance with resolving the issue.
Fix
APAR HU02310 is fixed in V8.4.0.2 software. Any FlashCopy mapping created after upgrade to V8.4.0.2 or later is not affected.
