High CPU usage and database transaction errors on FileNet Content Engine server

Problem

FileNet Content Engine server CPU usage reach 100% during failover or due to database connection failure

Symptom

Cause

Datasource connection threads to the database consuming resources and are not terminated or reused.

Resolving The Problem

Login to WebSphere console and proceed with the steps outlined:

1. Resources

2. JDBC

3. Data sources

4. Objectstore data_source name

5. WebSphere Application Server data source properties.

Enable "Validate new connection" with Number of retries [100] and Retry interval [3] seconds
Enable "Validate Existing pooled connections" with "Retry interval" of 0 seconds

Configure these settings for both XA and non-XA datasources created for the objecstore..
