The IBM Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools - Health Center client tool analyzes live or postmortem Java performance data produced by the Health Center agent for IBM Java.
Steps
The following downloads are for the Health Center client to read data produced by the Health Center agent. The Health Center agent ships with IBM Java 8 and IBM Semeru Runtimes on z/OS. It does not ship with IBM Semeru Runtimes on non-z/OS platforms, though there are some unsupported workarounds.
In general, the overhead of enabling the agent is less than 2%. There are two ways to enable the Health Center agent: 1) a live socket mode, and 2) a headless mode that writes data to files.
The data produced by the agent in either mode may be consumed by the Health Center client that can be downloaded with the following instructions:
- Ensure IBM Semeru Runtimes Java 17 is on your PATH (choose the "JDK" option on the download page instead of "JRE").
- Download Health Center:
- For macOS, before extracting, open Terminal, change directory to the download folder, and run:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine * - Start Health Center by executing healthcenter.exe (Windows), Eclipse.app (macOS), or healthcenter (Linux)
Ensure a large -Xmx if loading large HCDs. To change JVM parameters, edit healthcenter.ini (Windows/Linux) or Eclipse.app/Contents/Eclipse/healthcenter.ini (macOS).
