Hardware and software requirements for Sybase SQL Anywhere Server

Troubleshooting

Problem

This technote describes the hardware and software requirements for Sybase® SQL Anywhere® Server in conjunction with IBM® Rational® Robot and IBM® Rational® TestManager.

Resolving The Problem

The requirements depend on which version of SQL Anywhere is being used. Rational Robot and Rational TestManager v. 2001A and v. 2002 use SQL Anywhere v. 5.5.05. Rational Robot and Rational TestManager v. 2003 use SQL Anywhere v. 8.

From the Rational® Testing Products Release Notes

The answer depends on which version of Sybase is being used. Rational Robot and TestManager v. 2001A and v. 2002 use Sybase SQL Anywhere v. 5.5.05. Rational Robot and TestManager v. 2003 use Sybase SQL Anywhere v. 8.

From the Rational Testing Products Release Notes

The hardware and software requirements for using Sybase SQL Anywhere 5.5.05 Server are:

  1. The network server must be an Intel-based PC, a Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 or Windows® 2000 Server, or a Windows NT® 4.0 or Windows® 2000 Workstation
    1. Use Windows NT® Server if more than ten connections will be made to a Rational® project; Windows NT® Workstation allows only ten network connections
    2. Novell® NetWare® software is no longer supported for network servers.
  2. Pentium® processor
  3. 64 MB memory
  4. 100 MB disk space
  5. TCP/IP

The hardware and software requirements for using Sybase SQL Anywhere 8 Server are:
  1. The network server must be an Intel-based PC, a Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® XP, or Windows® 2000 Server, or a Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® XP, or Windows® 2000 Workstation
    1. Use Windows NT® Server if more than ten connections will be made to a Rational® project; Windows NT® Workstation allows only ten network connections
    2. Novell® NetWare® software is no longer supported for network servers.
  2. Pentium® III processor
  3. 256 MB memory
  4. 1 GB disk space
  5. TCP/IP: NetBios and IPX protocols are no longer supported. Instead of NetBios, use TCP/IP or SPX. Instead of IPX, use SPX
If Sybase SQL Anywhere Server is also used in conjunction with Rational ClearQuest®, consult the Rational ClearQuest documentation or release notes for any additional requirements that it may have.
