Hardware requirements for IBM systems
These products require connection to a dedicated channel of an Ultra2 or Ultra160 controller integrated in the server or an optional adapter installed in the server. The following servers are supported:

  • IBM eServer xSeries 230
  • IBM eServer xSeries 240
  • IBM eServer xSeries 330
  • IBM eServer xSeries 340
  • Netfinity 4500R
  • Netfinity 5100
  • Netfinity 5600
  • Netfinity 6000R
  • Netfinity 7100
  • Netfinity 7600
  • Netfinity 8500R

Hardware requirements for non-IBM systems

Compatibility
The 3600 Series LTO Tape Libraries support the 3600 Series LTO Drive Upgrade Option. The 3600 Series 2-Drive, 20-Cartridge Expander Module is only supported in rack installations with the 3600 Series LTO Tape Library (rack).

The IBM PCI Ultra160 SCSI Adapter (19K4646) is the only SCSI adapter supported for external attachment of these devices at this time.
The following LVD SCSI Cables are supported:

  • Netfinity 2 M Ultra2 SCSI Cable (03K9310)
  • Netfinity 4.3 M Ultra2 SCSI Cable (03K9311)

Limitations

  • The 3600 Series 2/4 TB LTO Tape Library (rack) and 3600 Series 2-Drive, 20-Cartridge Expander Module are supported only in rack installations.
  • The 3600 Series 2/4 TB LTO Tape Library (tower) is supported as a standalone tower.
  • These products require a dedicated Ultra2 LVD SCSI channel for optimum performance.
  • These products have not been tested for external attachment to an Ultra2 SCSI adapter. Support for external attachment to a SCSI adapter is limited to the Ultra160 adapter listed in the Compatibility section.
  • If installed in a rack, the 3600 Series 900 GB/1.8 TB LTO Tape Autoloader must be placed on a fixed shelf.

Some configurations may not be supported.
