Problem

This technote explains why attempts to export an IBM® Rational® ClearCase MultiSite® synchronization packet results in the error []Gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--crc error[] and provides steps to resolve the issue.

Symptom

Attempts to create a synchronization packet results in the following error:

%>multitool syncreplica -export -fship replica1@/vobs/test
Generating synchronization packet
/vobstorage/shipping/ms_ship/outgoing/sync_packet_14

Gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--crc error
multitool: Error: multitool: Error: Type manager "z_whole_copy" failed construct_version operation.
multitool: Error: multitool: Error: Could not get statistics of the version data file for this operation.
