Guidelines to configure traffic prediction

The transportation prediction featuredefines certain steps to configure traffic prediction for the firsttime using the administration portlets available in the Administration viewof the solution interface. For later configurations you can configureindividual administration portlets as required.

Procedure
  1. Configure the site title for the traffic prediction administrationportlets available in the Administration viewof the solution interface by following the instructions in Configuring the site title for the administration portlets.
  2. Configure the general settings for traffic prediction inthe Configure and Enable Traffic Prediction portletby following the instructions in Configuring general settings for traffic prediction. Ensure that traffic prediction is disabled by clearing the Enable traffic prediction checkbox Enable prediction based on speed checkbox and Enable prediction based on volume checkbox.
  3. Restart the Prediction server.
    1. Go to /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/transportationPrediction/bin/.
    2. Stop the Prediction server by running the followingcommand:
./stopServer.sh transPredServer -username wpsadmin -password wpspassw0rd
    3. Start the Prediction server by running the followingcommand:
./startServer.sh transPredServer -username wpsadmin -password wpspassw0rd
  4. Specify the details required to create a subnet ID andgenerate a relationship between the traffic links in the Create Traffic Prediction Relationship Matrix portletby following the instructions in Customizing the traffic relationship matrix.
  5. Configure the traffic prediction mean calculation settingsin the Configure Traffic Prediction Calculations - Mean portletby following the instructions in Customizing traffic prediction mean calculation.
  6. Configure the traffic prediction estimate calculation settingsin the Configure Traffic Prediction Calculations - Estimate portletby following the instructions in Customizing traffic prediction estimate calculation.
  7. Restart the BatchCalculation server. For instructions onhow to stop and start the BatchCalculation server see Controlling the trafficprediction servers.
  8. Trigger all the traffic prediction calculations in the Initiate Calculation Manually portletby following the instructions in Manually initiating traffic prediction calculations. It is recommended that all the mean and estimate traffic predictioncalculations are triggered manually the first time with the meancalculations triggered first. Mean calculations for any one day aretriggered and completed before estimate calculations are triggeredfor the same day. Later the calculations are run at scheduled timesby default.
  9. Monitor all the traffic prediction calculations in the Traffic Prediction Calculation Monitoring portletby following the instructions in Monitoring traffic prediction calculations. You can customize the query in the selection form to monitorspecific calculations.
  10. Enable traffic prediction in the Configure and Enable Traffic Prediction portletby following the instructions in Configuring speed and volume settings for traffic prediction. Ensure that the Enable traffic prediction checkbox is selected. Also select either Enable prediction based on speed checkbox or Enable prediction based on volume checkbox or both.
