Guardium Save SFTP Configuration Error: A test data file could not be sent to this host with the parameters given.

Troubleshooting

Problem

You are saving the Archive values using Protocol SFTP or FTP and getting an error in the GUI: 

A test data file could not be sent to this host with the parameters given.
Please confirm the hostname or IP address is entered correctly, the host is online, the target directory exists and 
can be written to by the user given, and the password given is correct for that user. Make sure both units are on the 
same protocol(IPv4, IPv6 or dual) and for more info please refer to the Guardium documentation.

Symptom

When the application debugger is on, the call to save the configuration is there but there is no exception in the debug.log:

Thread: http-bio-8443-exec-8 - ConfigurationRESTService.doPost():Processing configuration type:resultsexport

The catalina.out file shows this exception:
com.guardium.rest.ValidationException: A test data file could not be sent to this host with the parameters given. Please confirm the hostname or IP address is entered correctly, the host is online, the target directory exists and can be written to by the user given, and the password given is correct for that user. Make sure both units are on the same protocol(IPv4, IPv6 or dual) and for more info please refer to the Guardium documentation.
