IBM Food Trust enforces the Global Standards One (GS1) policies for reusing GTIN, GLN and SSCC identifiers.
Note: See the GS1 General Specifications Document for a complete description of each identifier reuse policy:
- 4.3.5 - GTIN non-reuse - An allocated Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) must not be allocated to another trade item.
- 4.4.1.1 - SSCC reuse - A minimum of 12 months must elapse before reusing a Serial Shipping Container Code (SSCC).
- 4.6.1.6 - GLN reuse - A minimum of 48 months must elapse before reusing a Global Location Number (GLN).
