Troubleshooting
Problem
You receive many GIM23901E ** LINK-EDIT PROCESSING FOR SYSMOD xxxxxxx Failed... messages, where xxxxxxx represents a PTF. This occurs while applying maintenance for CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS).
Cause
The SDFHMSGS library was running out of directory space that in turn affected the Link edit processing for the associated fixes and other fixes dependant upon the failing sysmod.
Diagnosing The Problem
In the SMP/E output report, look for :
GIM26701E ** DIRECTORY SPACE FOR THE SDFHMSGS LIBRARY WAS EXCEEDED DURING AN ATTEMPT TO STORE DATA ENTRY DFH0xxxx messages, where xxxx is a CICS message number.
This will be followed by:
GIM69011I RETRANSFORMATION OF DATA DFH0xxxx ON LIBRARY SDFHMSGS WAS UNSUCCESSFUL message.
Any SYSMODs (for example, PTFs ) that have data elements representing a CICS TS message that fail due to Directory Space problem with the SDFHMSGS library will receive Link edit errors along with associated dependant SYSMODs.
Resolving The Problem
Increase the directory block allocation for the SDFHMSGS library and rerun the apply job. You might also want to increase the size of the data set.
Product Synonym
