Symptom
When spine is enabled and in cacti.log random showing error messages similar like below:
SPINE: Poller[0] FATAL: Connection Failed, Error:'2002', Message:'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (11)' (Spine thread) PHPSVR: Poller[0] ERROR: Input Expected, Script Server Terminating PHPSVR: Poller[0] ERROR: Input Expected, Script Server Terminating SYSTEM HEURISTIC STATS DAILY: Time:940.3817 POLLER: Poller[0] Maximum runtime of 298 seconds exceeded. Exiting. POLLER: Poller[0] WARNING: There are '3' detected as overrunning a polling process, please investigate
Cause
In /etc/my.cnf.d/server.cnf, innodb_buffer_pool_size may be set to too large (almost size of total memory) or too small.
Resolving The Problem
Adjust innodb_buffer_pool_size based on database size and the actual memory. A good rule of thumb is to set it to half of the actual memory if it is an all-in-one RTM installation, or set it to 80% on DB host if RTM Web service host and DB host are separate. Please refer to related UR below.
