Problem
Getting a 604 error when attempting to define a remote with a dataport range
Symptom
Defined a CEZ remote node definition with FTP_DATA_PORT_RANGE=55000-55999. Initial attempt to establish a session with the remote node is successful, following attempts get the following messages:
PORT STATUS: USING LOCAL IPADDR=150.045.037.049,55000/00003.
FTP CLIENT OUTPUT: RETR ILLSEADR
PORT RANGE STATUS: STFTPC45 DATA PORT ERROR POSTED. RC=1127,
604 Connection to server terminated by Control Port error.
Cause
The ports specified in the FTP_DATA_PORT_RANGE= parameter are not being released after the initial session is established.
Environment
IBM Sterling Connect:Enterprise for z/OS communication with FTP server over a TCP/IP connection.
Diagnosing The Problem
Determine why the data ports listed in the FTP_DATA_PORT_RANGE= are not available after the initial session establishment.
Resolving The Problem
In this case, the problem it was finally determined that some of the ports in the range were blocked which caused issues using the other ports in the range.
