Abstract
Gentran Gateway Mailbox Setup to Send to 2 Mailboxes
Body
How to setup a Gentran Gateway mailbox to send OUTBOUND data to two mailboxes (carbon copied data)
In this example there is a partner to whom data is being sent (partner 1). A second partner (partner2) would like to have a copy of the same data.
This might also be used to send data to two different Gentran systems.
This setup will require:
A. Two partners
- Partner1 receives the first copy of the data.
- Partner2 receives the second copy of the data
B. Three mailboxes
Mailbox1 - Gentran Gateway Mailbox which sends the data to the two other mailboxes
Partner1 Mailbox - receives the first copy of the data (this mailbox may already exist and may already be in use)
Partner2 Mailbox - receives a copy of the data (a delivery rule may run to modify the data if necessary)
Detailed Instructions Below:
1. Create the new receiving mailboxes for Partner1 and Partner2. These can be any type of mailbox (FTP, Sockets, File System, etc). These will be used to actually send the data to Partner1 and Partner2
2. Create the Gentran Gateway mailbox
Note: When setting up a Gentran Gateway mailbox, both the 'Sending' and the 'Receiving' tabs must be completely filled out. If the carbon copy is sent to a second Gentran system (a test system for instance) then the version of both Gentran systems must be the same.
When setting up this mailbox there are two tabs:
Sending Tab:
The 'Send messages from this mailbox' checkmark box must be checked.
The 'Enter the name of the Server to register' field must contain the machine name of the Primary Gentran controller.
The 'Enter or select an existing mailbox to register' drop down list must contain the name of the Gentran Gateway Mailbox.
Receiving tab:
The 'Receive messages into this mailbox' checkmark box must be checked.
The 'Use Recipient E-mail address on message for routing' checkmark box is optional.
Click on the 'Edit Recipients' button to enter the recipient mailbox(es) and/or distribution list(s).
Detailed Steps for the Gentran Gateway mailbox:
a. Open Mailbox Manager
b. Right click on Mailboxes
c. Choose Create
d. Type a name for your new mailbox
e. Choose Next->Next
f. Select Use this mailbox as a gateway
g. Select GENTRAN
h. Select Next and Finish
i. Put a check mark in 'Send messages from this mailbox'
j. Type the GENTRAN server name (this is the name displayed in the Mailbox Manager)
under Enter or select an existing mailbox to register. Select the name of the mailbox that you just created in this step (2-d). (This will appear to create a mailbox 'loop', but it will not. The mailbox selected does need to be itself. This will cause the mailbox to send to the receiving side of the mailbox.)
k. Go to the Receiving tab
l. Put a check mark in 'Receive messages into this mailbox.'
m. Select Edit Recipients…
n. Select the Partner1 and Partner2 mailboxes created in Step 1.
o. Once both are highlighted choose To-> which will move them into the top "To>" box
p. Select OK on the next two screens that appear (you do not need to complete the email addresses boxes)
q. Select OK and OK
3. Setup both partners and assign them their own mailbox (Mailbox1 for Partner1 and Mailbox2 for Partner2) . However, change the partner mailboxes on the outbound relationships (for instance on the 810 relationship) to the new Gentran Gateway Mailbox created in step 2. above. That will send the data to the Gentran Gateway mailbox which will then send to both Mailbox1 and Mailbox2.
See steps below:
a. Open Gentran Server for windows desktop
b. Select Tools ->Partner Editor
c. Highlight Partner1 (do not click edit - the default mailbox on that screen should be Mailbox1 for Partner1 and Mailbox2 for Partner2)
d. Select Outbound
e. Use the drop down and select the first relationship that will carbon copy data (all relationships may not be copied - for instance the 997)
f. Choose Interchange
g. Select Edit
h. Choose Advanced
i. Uncheck Use Default Mailbox and make sure the mailbox created in step 2d is displayed under the mailbox entry
j. Repeat for all other relationships to be copied
k. Repeat for Partner2
Note: Do not change the default Partner mailbox from Tools>Partner>Edit
4. Using a delivery rule to change the data copied to Partner2
a. Right click on Partner2's mailbox
b. Click on Properties
c. Click on the delivery rule tab
d. Click New
e. Provide a meaningful name
f. Run this rule when "RECEIVING"
g. Use the xprocessDLLAgent with command line: see the Gentran Communication User's Guide for valid delivery rules.
Example: Option 11 will replace a string of hexadecimal characters with a second string of hexadecimal characters. Usage: 11 <hexString1> <hexString2>
It is strongly recommend that this is tested to ensure that the string does not occur in more places in the document than in the place you are trying to change.
