Generating SQL Server backup of RequisitePro

Question & Answer

Question

What is the procedure for generating a backup of an IBM® Rational® RequisitePro® Microsoft® SQL Server-based project?

Answer

To back up a SQL Server-based RequisitePro project, perform the following steps:

  1. Access SQL Enterprise Manager.
  2. In the SQL Enterprise Manager, there will be a list of Servers, under your Server group. Select the appropriate server where the RequisitePro database resides, and expand the server icon.
  3. Navigate to the database directory and expand it.
  4. Select the RequisitePro database, right click it and select All Tasks > Backup Database.
  5. In the General tab, ensure that the Backup option is set to Database Complete.
  6. In the Destination field of the General tab, identify a location where the .bak file will be created.
  7. Click the Add button and then select a Backup Destination when the dialog box will appear.
  8. Validate File Name option is selected and select the path to where the .bak file will be placed.
Note: The default path will place the .bak file under the local MSSQL\Backup directory. This Backup directory will list the path where SQL Server is installed on the server.
  9. Make an archive file that includes the following files for a complete RequisitePro Project backup:
The RequisitePro project database .bak file
    The RequisitePro project .rqs file
    The RequisitePro project .rql file
    The RequisitePro project folder.
