Problem

Product: Impromptu Web Reports Version: 6.0.506 Platform: NT Description: When running prompted reports in IWR, a 'gateway timeout' error occurred. IWR is running on an NT server connected to a Novell server. The IWR server has a static IP address. The following configuration changes have already been applied, but the error still occurs: allowidlepromptserver=1, prompttimeout=300000 and requesttimeout=300000. The iwr.log file with severity level set to 31 shows the following: IWR:IWReqMan:ErrorHandlerError: machine_name, 246(ec), 2001/06/15 11:44:15.232; Error: 0, Generic; Process ID: 246; Thread: 236; Host: machine_name; Text: SOCKET ERROR. Error occurred sending data on port 1047, host machine_name.COGNOS.COM. WinSock function send(). An established connection was aborted by the software in your host. WinSock Error Code: 10053.; BackTrace Info: 1. File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\IWRNet\Sockets\CClientSocket.cpp; Line#:153; Desc.:SOCKET ERROR. Error occurred sending data on port 1047, host machine_name.COGNOS.COM. WinSock function send(). An established connection was aborted by the software in your host. WinSock Error Code: 10053.; 2. File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\RequestManager\IWReqMan\IWReqMan.cpp; Line#:86; Desc.:Ack; IWR:IWReqMan:IWReqManWarning: machine_name, 246(157), 2001/06/15 11:44:15.232; Request Manager terminating... An error occurred while connecting to the client socket.; BackTrace Info: 1. File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\IWRNet\Sockets\CClientSocket.cpp; Line#:284; Desc.:SOCKET ERROR. An error occurred while connecting to the client socket.; 2. File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\RequestManager\RqMgrServices\imcgiresponse.cpp; Line#:952; Desc.:IMCGIResponse::send; 3. File Name: S:\Imp60\IWR\RequestManager\RqMgrServices\imcgiresponse.cpp; Line#:1033; Desc.:Failed to send response to gateway.; Solution: The log file shows socket errors and a failed client socket connection. Check the TCP/IP configuration; the DNS server and/or WINS server may be set. Remove the DNS server from the TCP/IP configuration. This should resolve the socket error causing the gateway timeout.
