Gaps in Host Grid Available Memory Graph due to Low Upper Limit

Troubleshooting

Problem

Host Grid Available Memory graph has gaps though rrd file dump shows no NaN value.  The cause is the low Upper Limit set in graph template.

Symptom

Host Grid Available Memory graph has gaps though rrd file dump shows no NaN value.

Gaps in Available Memory graph

Diagnosing The Problem

Using rrdtool dump to export the values from graph rrd file.  Check the values and there is no zero (NaN) value.

The exported xml file will show between 2018-11-12 and 2018-11-13, there is always a valid value.

Check the graph, the physical memory value is around 3.8G, but the graph can only show 100 max in Y axis.

Resolving The Problem

From Console (Tab) -> Templates -> Graph Templates

Search for "GRID - Cluster/Host Available Memory", open the graph template.

Scroll down to Upper Limit, and remove the value - 100, and Save.

Remove Upper Limit from graph template

Check the graph again, it should show properly.

The graph now show the proper values
