The function of MSCOMCTL.OCX file in iBase.

Question & Answer

Question

What is the function of MSCOMCTL.OCX file in iBase?

Answer

MSCOMCTL.ocx is an ActiveX Control module that contains common controls used by Visual Basic and Windows, such as ImageCombo, ImageList, ListView, ProgressBar, Slider, StatusBar, TabStrip, ToolBar, and TreeView controls.  iBase is built using Visual Basic and makes use of these common controls in the user interface, this is why it is installed as it's a dependency that needs to be on the client machine for the application to function.

The file is distributed using a Microsoft authored merge module that is included in the iBase installer.  The merge module defines the component needs to be installed in the SYSTEM folder on the client machine.
